BIBF ensures continuity of the learning process through its “virtual classrooms”
Students have successfully interacted with the BIBF MyClass 2.0 e-learning platform, rolled-out on 10 March 2020, to ensure continuity of the learning process and ensure the safety of students in light of national efforts to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The virtual classes have been implemented for all academic, professional and public offerings using the e-learning platform, whereby students can easily access the learning materials, such as presentations, lecture notes, videos, web-links, assignments and online assessments.
The classes are delivered through live sessions based on class schedules, with the faculty streaming classes live and students interacting using their screens.
The BIBF’s IT, Registration, and Customer Service Departments provide necessary technical and logistical support to ensure implementation of the distance learning system. As part of the preparation for the digital transition, the BIBF works closely with faculty members and coordinates with students to ensure a continued learning experience.
Faculty members are capable of supporting students to adjust to the new learning model and overcome gaps in the learning process.
The BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh stated, “We have received a great level of interaction amongst students during the online sessions. This is particularly true because today’s students are digital natives and have grown up around technology; they feel comfortable with it and expect it to be part of their learning journey.”
Dr. Al Shaikh also reaffirmed that the infrastructure to run online classes was already in place and will continue with the highest degree of efficiency as the Country faces the global outbreak.”
“The Kingdom of Bahrain has one of the most well-established IT infrastructures across the region which supports running smooth and seamless e-Learning and virtual classroom solutions”. He added.
He extended his appreciation to faculty members who are ensuring the continuity of the education process despite all the challenges. He also commended staff in administrative and technical roles for their efforts in facilitating the student learning experience.
